Walk south down Main on a Thursday around six and the block sounds different than it did two years ago. The old HorseShoe corner has a new name on the awning. A block up, a plant-heavy dining room where Crooked Roots Brewing used to pull pints is packed with people who look like they came straight from work. Drop down the grade toward the Crooked River and there's a taphouse with fire pits and picnic tables that locals waited on for years, finally serving pints with a canyon view.
If you already live here, you don't need another "top ten restaurants in Prineville" list scraped from a directory. You need a map of what actually changed, where the food trucks are parked this month, and which room to book when your in-laws show up on a Saturday. This is that.
What flipped on Main Street this year
Two openings moved the center of gravity downtown.
The first is Cadillac's at 410 N. Main, the corner of 4th and Main. Taking over the former HorseShoe location at the corner of 4th and Main Street in downtown Prineville, Cadillac's has been completely refurbished into a multi-faceted gathering spot with a full bar, outdoor seating, live music, and food trucks pulled into the mix. It reads less like a straight restaurant swap and more like a hybrid venue, which is a format Prineville hasn't really had at that address before.
The second is the Patio Taphouse a block north. The last time the space that now houses the Patio Taphouse was open, it looked a lot different. The former location of Crooked Roots Brewing, on 400 block of North Main Street, now has brighter-colored walls, features multiple new booths and a bar table and stools that spans the middle of the dining space. Owner Jason Rate ran a nine-month renovation, opened the doors in June, and wanted to create a dining and gathering environment that brought many of the popular food truck site elements to an indoor location. If you've ever wished the Corral scene had a heated indoor version for February, that's the pitch.
Put those two next to each other on the same three-block stretch and downtown suddenly has two rooms designed around rotating food and casual gathering rather than a single fixed menu. That is the actual change.
The Taphouse at the bottom of the grade
The other big story of 2026 is out of the downtown grid. Crooked River Taphouse was announced for a May 2026 opening and is now open. Locals had been watching the site for a long time. The long-awaited Taphouse at the bottom of the grade with river and canyon view finally opened, with lots of picnic tables, patio seating and two fire pits to choose from.
A few practical notes for planning:
- Open every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Two food trucks in rotation, one focused on Mexican and BBQ, the other already well known in town for breakfast items and burgers
- Adirondack chairs facing the river, plus fire pits that make September and October evenings viable
This is the room to book when someone visits and you want a view that isn't Meadow Lakes. It's also the answer to "somewhere with a patio that isn't 15 feet from the highway."
Where the food trucks actually live
Prineville's food-truck geography is compact and worth memorizing, because the same cart can be at a different lot depending on the week.
- The Corral Tap Room & Food Carts is the anchor. An owner-operated brick oven pizza truck runs out of the Corral, and a taco cart doing nachos and sopitos is set up at the same lot.
- Wild Ride Brewing hosts too. A fusion-style cart with pulled pork, nachos, and cuban sandwiches runs out of Wild Ride, and Burger Love Food Truck is parked in the lot near Wild Ride.
- Cadillac's is now in this same conversation given its food-truck-friendly setup on Main.
If you're routing an evening around food trucks, treat the Corral, Wild Ride, and Cadillac's as three points of a triangle and pick based on what's parked that night rather than what sounds good in the abstract.
The anchor tenants haven't moved
The new openings matter, but the reason Prineville has a food scene at all is a set of rooms that have been quietly running for years or decades.
Barney Prine's Steakhouse & Saloon is locally owned, and serves only choice USDA meats, all hand cut and prepared in house. The kitchen is open Wednesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. until close. This is still the "we need a real dinner reservation" answer.
Club Pioneer, sometimes doubling as the Blue Duck Saloon, remains the group-and-events room. Between it and Ron's Comfort Food Café at Meadow Lakes Golf Course, most large family gatherings in town land in one of two places.
Bonito Feast is the Main Street Japanese fusion spot that changed the ceiling of what's available in Prineville. Ask anyone who used to drive to Redmond for sushi.

- Dad's Place for a sit-down meal that isn't trying too hard

Yelp's June 2026 Prineville list, in order, runs Crooked River Taphouse, Club Pioneer, Dillon's Grill, Dad's Place, Dawg House, The Sandwich Factory, Bonito Feast, Debbie Sue's Cafe, Taqueria Mi Tiendita, and Ash Kickin' BBQ. That the newest room on the list is also sitting at the top is the most honest signal of where locals are actually pointing visitors this summer.
The weekday routine spots
The dinner scene gets the attention. The weekday coffee-and-lunch layer is where you actually live.
Angelina's Coffee Company is tucked beside a gas station with a drive-thru that's easy to miss, and the kitchen turns out breakfast sandwiches and burritos plus milkshakes and coffee that accommodates dietary restrictions. It's the drive-thru you send a first-timer to instead of the chain across the road.
The Press is the other option most residents rotate through. It was created to serve fresh-pressed juices, gourmet paninis, and a space for the community to gather. Between those two and the Corral for an outdoor lunch, most Monday-through-Thursday routines have a place to land.
For a mid-week lunch that doubles as a break, Ron's Comfort Food Café at Meadow Lakes Golf Course is worth the drive out. You get a real meal and a view of fairways instead of a parking lot.

That's a real week of options.
